We’re all familiar with the phrase, ‘consistency is key’ and that couldn’t be truer when it comes down to social media.

Social media is crowded, there are a bunch of your competitors all competing for the attention of your audience. Consistent messages can help you to cut through the noise and be the ones that are always showing up.

If you’ve found yourself reading this post, you could either be running social media accounts for your business, but you’re looking for ways to gain or exposure, or you’re aware that you don’t currently utilise social media for your business and you’re looking for a bit of guidance on the tips and tricks of the trade.

Well, you’ve come to the right place.

In this article, we give you 3 key reasons why consistent approach to social media marketing is so important.

1. Consistent posting

Social media moves fast, with millions of pieces of new content being all the time, that’s why it’s so important to post regularly.

If you’re not posting regularly, it’s likely that your audience isn’t seeing your content frequently enough for it to become memorable. The bottom line is, to success in social media you’ve got to be invested in it, otherwise you need to be comfortable with the fact you’re making much less of an impact than your competitors.

The flip side of this is to make sure that you’re not posting too often, otherwise you’ll be at risk of overwhelming your audience and them unfollowing you. We find the perfect balance is to post a couple or a few times per week. This of course will depend on your audience and what type of content you share. The best thing to do is test your frequency over a few weeks and try different things, this will lead you to creating the perfect consistent social media marketing plan that you can stick to.

2. Consistent look & feel (branding & aesthetics)

This one is all about how you look on social media. Having a consistent look to your posts will make you instantly recognisable as your audience scrolls through their feed. It will also give your brand personality, help to shape your overall brand and be far more memorable.

Your aesthetic could be a logo in a particular place, the use of your brand colours or even a family of frames and templates.

Top Tip: Create a family or suite of brand templates that you can use across your social media channels. This will give you variety, but also ensure that your brand image remains strong and recognisable across different posts.

3. Consistent voice

The final thing is to sound great too, by keeping your brand voice consistent.

Your brand should have a specific voice, this is how you write, tell a story, and communicate with your audience. A consistent voice builds your brand’s personality, so it shouldn’t change from post to post.

Knowing your audience well, will determine what kind of brand voice you should have for your business. Whether funny, light-hearted, or serious, once your brand voice is determined, it can be used across all social media channels and in other brand communications too.
